Slow WiFi on HTC One

So, I have just bought a lovely new HTC One, and am mostly happy with it, although the screen is a bit too big to use one handed and the network connection seemed a bit slow. I still haven’t managed to do a proper test o. the mobile network connection, but I have gotten to the bottom of why the WiFi connection was so slow.

Suspecting that it was slower than my old and trusty Samsung Galaxy S I9000 I ran a speed test, this is what I managed on the SGS:

Connection Type: Wifi
Server: Ealing
Download: 5.61 Mbps
Upload: 0.55 Mbps
Ping: 149 ms

And for comparison the initial test on the HTC one was:

Connection Type: Wifi
Server: London
Download: 1.20 Mbps
Upload: 0.39 Mbps
Ping: 58 ms

So I did a bit of a Google and found this xda-developers thread

And changed the ‘best WiFi performance’ setting and then reran the test, these were the results:

Connection Type: Wifi
Server: London
Download: 5.93 Mbps
Upload: 1.05 Mbps
Ping: 53 ms

That link you posted was to a discussion about the HTC one x not the HTC one. The one x does have WiFi issues something to do with the antenna.
